When it says stay consistent with type of food if all the food choice are relatively low carb is that ok. For instance if I feed him Friskies mariner's catch, chicken dinner, turkey and giblets, as wells a walmarts , salmon, chicken dinner, and Purina DM is it ok to mix between all these or should I try to limit the variety?

No, you don't need to restrict the choices, I don't think. My cats eat only FF or Friskees, but they get a different flavor every meal. As long as the carb value is close to the same, it's all good. Just watch for any flavor or brand that they don't seem to like or that causes digestive problems and if you notice any, cross them off the menu.
ECID, but most cats seem to enjoy variety.

So glad to read in your other posts that Simke is feeling better and eating better since last night.

Yes, a variety is good, because cats being cats, they will turn their noses up at one flavor that they liked so much only the day before. :o  Cats will be cats so I like to keep several different low carb flavors and varieties in the mix. Fancy Feast classic pates and Friskies pates are my lower cost choices.

If you are feeding the canned DM, you may find that after a couple of weeks, your cat may refuse to eat it, the novelty of the taste having worn off. Several members have reported that happening with their cats. I had no problem removing it from the rotation since it is so expensive. Hill's has a product guarantee and you should be able to take it back to your vet for a refund and say your cat refused to eat it. Then spend the extra money on some of the other low carb foods.
