Flying and Feliway?

My husband and I are moving in July. We will be flying both of our cats (one sugar baby and one civie). It will be a 5 1/2 hour flight as opposed to a 2000 mile drive. I have heard that sedating a cat prior to flight is unsafe and often banned by airlines, so I am looking for alternatives to making this less stressful for them ( and for Momma too....wine on standby..lol). Has anyone used Feliway for their kitties flying? Peaches is my relaxed and easy-going sugar baby. Rugby is my domesticated feral. I'm such a nervous wreck.....worried....but flying is their only option. Any advice will help!

I use Rescue Remedy for flights and long drives. A couple drops in the mouth, a drop on top of both front paws and drops around the pee pads in the carriers. Don't get the Adult Human formula. You want the Pet formula.
I can give you lots of pointers on flying cross country with a cat, if you want.

I've tried Rescue Remedy before. Unfortunatley Rugby became super paranoid and skittish on it. Even I couldn't get near her (she is the domesticated feral). There is no way the kennel would be able to get near her to rub it on her anyway. She is my fiesty girl! My husband and I will be driving across Canada and our two cats will be at a kennel (its a really wonderful place) for a week while we drive to our new home. The kennel will them arrange them for their flights to our new home once we arrive, so we can pick them right up at the airport. Im not keen on this situation, but we have no choice. We only have a regular cab truck. Any tips are welcome! Thanks.
