Bille is my cat with Fatty Live that DCIN helpod with a feeding tube last Friday. After seeming brighter all day today and after testing negative for ketones ealier today, she has ketones SMALL on the strip, not trace.

She just vomited. I don't know what to do at this point. Is anybody still up that can advise?I cannot afford another overnight vet stay for $1,000 I did that two weeks ago. He sugar was in the green colos on the urnine strip today not high.

I'm confused and I don't know how she can suvive this.

Hope you've found some help for Billie or she's doing better. I see you are offline right now. If you come back on, you can try posting in the Lantus Tight Regulation ISG, there is usually someone around there more during the night.

Just calledafiend and used his cedit card fo an emergency vet. The emegency vet is saying she willneed to be on iv fluids all day at he egula vet.I amnot going to be able to do this any longer. Evey vet is telling me it's time to PTS. We've come so fa with the feeding tube I don't want to thow in the towel but I simply can't do this anymore monetarily. Is this how it usually ends? She had such a good day today and was looking and feeling better than she had. I can't believe this.

I suggest that you give Billie a day or two at the regular vet getting IV fluids and being fed through the tube. Perhaps the vet can teach you how to give SubQ fluids at home to reduce costs; it really isn't difficult.

Billie should be able to come through this. It just takes times and some extra care.

DCIN has just sent Billie back to the emergency/specialty hospital for 2-3 days of hospitalization.

Billie is showing urinary ketones, is not tolerating tube feeding, and is extremely lethargic. I have negotiated a reduced rate of $1200 to $1800 for those 2-3 days of 24-hour hospitalization. Please help DCIN help Billie. There is a chip-in on her page with a goal that includes her first hospitalization of $2000 for the feeding tube. Thanks to all who have donated so far. Thanks for the prayers and well wishes. Please share.

I am sending prayers for this poor little kitty Billie who has had such a hard time and for her mama too. Please get well Billie.

Jacky decided to let Billie go. She did not want to put Billie through any more procedures or hospitalization.

This is in part what I last wrote on Billie's Diabetic Cats in Need (DCIN) blog page.

Billie came home on Monday, April 9, and [Jacky] was working very hard to feed her through the tube and get her back to health. Billie had a bright Wednesday morning, but by Wednesday evening, she had crashed and was showing urinary ketones. [Jacky] borrowed a friend's credit card and took her to an nearby ER that pronounced Billie back in DKA, gave her IV fluids, and suggested that [Jacky] take her to her local vet in the morning for more fluids.

On Thursday morning, the local vet said that they could not deal with that complicated a case and referred [Jacky] back to emergency/specialty hospital. I called the hospital and negotiated with a vet for 24 hour care for $400 to $600/day. When the vet examined Billie, she found her that her bloodwork from the night before showed her more jaundiced (liver failing), all her electrolytes "off," and many other internal organs in distress.

The vet suggested euthanasia. [Jacky] and I agreed to hospitalize Billie and take it a day at a time.

On Friday morning, after hearing that Billie's bloodwork had improved some but that she was still showing significant urinary ketones, [Jacky] decided to let Billie go. She did not want to put Billie through any more. [Jacky] felt badly that DCIN had paid for a feeding tube and hospitalization, without changing the outcome. I agreed with [Jacky's] decision to give Billie relief from her Earthly body, and said that DCIN would pay for the cremation and the return of the cremains. (DCIN has paid for cremation with other financial assistance cases.)

Jackie I am very sorry for your loss. You and Billie tried so hard, but it wasn't meant to be. I hope in time your memories will ease your pain.

So sorry for your loss. Billie was very fortunate to have you care for her. There comes a time when we have to make that very difficult decision - it's so hard - but please know that it was the right decision for her, after you did so much to help her. You gave so freely to care for her, and I know she knew all you did for her was out of love. Venita - thank you for all you did to help w/ Billie. What a wonderful gift you were able to provide.
