I hope that I am going this right. I stood by the box until he finished then stuck the stick in the wet litter. Of course it was covered with litter. I removed the litter and it was a little bit darker than the orginal color. I hope that this is tht right way to do it . How often should I check thew urine? Thanks
 
Hi Rose, that would'nt be the way. while watching fluffly pee slide the stick into the stream. cat's cannot stop the flow once they begin so you should be able to get it if he's letting you watch him pee.
also is this a keto or bg testing stick. what are the sticks called?
 
I got Relion Ketone test strips 15 second test. Fluff is such a hugh cat with so much fur I am not sure I can figure out where to place tthe strip. Can I just test the urine in the litter?
 
not really reliabe Rose...think of it as a urine sample...you really want a clean sample ya know? the stick can't get thoroughly wet in the liter.
if you take your time you can maybe see where it lands and place the strip in that spot while he's peeing.
it takes a little practice...
i don't look for the stream per say...i look to see where in the box the urine seems to be landing and i stick the strip there.
 
If this method is proving hard, Rose, you can get some aquarium gravel and put it by itself in a litter box. Then wait until he goes. The gravel won't absorb the urine so you should have a nice puddle to test. We had to do it that way with Oliver; he would not pee with an audience.
 
I used an empty litter box and put in just a litter cut up paper strips. The urine would puddle and I could test. I made it a point to watch Squamee so I would know when she was going and get fresh urine. Also, I found it hard to read the strip, comparing it with the colors on the bottle . Someone suggested I compare it to an unused strip and that helped a lot.
