Right when I was thinking we had made it through a summer without fleas, I combed one off of Bubba just now. I really hate putting Frontline, and Revolution, poisons on him. I have an all natural product by Sentry called Natural Defense. It's active ingredients are peppermint oil, clove oil, lemongrass oil and other ingredients are canola oil and citric acid. I have used it on him other years. Is there any reason that now that he is diabetic that any of those oils could hurt him?

I am not familiar with that particular product. But, the ingredients you have listed appear to be natural and without a sugar content. I cannot see any problem arising from an application of that product. I am going to research that product a bit more and may try it out for my brood. Thanks for the info. Good luck from Jane and Stewey

Thanks Jane. I called Sentry and they do not have any information regarding the use of it on a diabetic cat. She suggested I call my vet, and I am sure they will try to sell me Frontline or Revolution.

My cats always get Revolution-ized. Should I not be using Revolution with my diabetic guy?
Lucy, I hate those flea treatments even before Bubba had diabetes, as they are nerve poison. They do the job all right and some summers that have had an exceptional flea population and not being able to get control of it using Natural Defense, I had to rescind and use them to sterilize the females and get control of the flea cycle. I just would rather not use them on diabetic or non-diabetic kitties and dogs.

I have to agree. Fortunately my guys have never had any issues with the Revolution but I still watch them like a hawk for the week following treatment to make sure they're not having any kind of reaction! Sadly where we live, way out here in the middle of no where, we have a serious flea problem every year and the ONLY thing I've found, in 25 years, that really works is Revolution. I've been using it for about 5 yrs now and I've seen less than a half-dozen fleas in all that time.
