Flea help needed! Not for my diabetic kittie

I realize this is not a normal topic here, but you all are so helpful and kind and I’m desperate for help! I rescued a community kittie I’ve been feeding last week before our massive cold snap in MN hit. He’s been quarantined in my home office and Howie hasn’t had any contact with him (for a variety of reasons). Of course I go sit with him this AM and discover fleas. For anyone who has experience with fleas, can you give me your best advice on what works? I gave him Capstar this afternoon as I can’t touch him to give a topical treatment. I vacuumed everything, washed every fabric item he’s been in contact with (remembered one more I need to wash tomorrow), sprayed down the big area rug, floor, and vinyl desk chair he’s been sitting on with Tropiclean flea/tick home spray, cleaned his litter box, and washed his food dishes and gave fresh dry food. I also vacuumed my whole house. I’m hoping that since he has been quarantined, it hasn’t really spread but that could be wishful thinking or naïveté on my part. I tried giving Howie a Capstar today but he puked it up (could have been from anything though). He goes to the vet tomorrow so I’ll get something from them. WHAT ELSE? I’m fearful of going in his room to clean each day as He got so scared and scaled the wall and curtains to sit on the curtain rod. I had to manhandle him to get him down (subsequently took down the curtain and rod).

My biggest headache/concerns:
1. I leave Wednesday for a couple days for family visits. Should I cancel? I don’t want to come back to a bigger mess. My critter sitter is aware of what is going on. I have no expectation of her doing any sort of cleaning. This is my mess!
2. My coat closet is in his room. It’s been blocked shut the whole time he’s been in there and I haven’t opened it. Do I need to empty it out and clean all my coats and everything in there? It does have carpet in the closet (rest of the room is hardwoods).
3. What do you recommend to clean wood floors and solid surfaces. Should I use the Tropiclean spray? It’s kind of sticky. There is so much contradictory info online!

Thank you sooo much for any/all help. I’ve never dealt with the before and I know it’s a patience game! After just having gone through a broken water line in my biggest radiator in my house last week and dealing with water clean up and some damage, I’m ready for a break!

I use Frontline topical on my cat and always take Frontline spray with me when travelling and staying in pet-friendly rentals (the spray is expensive but this has been the only thing that did its job even in the toughest places; all "natural" remedies are just an entertainment).

Thank you for that recommendation! I’ll see where I can find some of that spray!

Don't forget to shave your head and send us all some photos. o_O
