Hello,

I've got a question regarding my most recent curve I did on Miles three days ago. I hadn't done one in awhile and I knew I was overdue. I was very surprised that none of my readings were below 200.

Previously, it seemed like 2 units 2x/day would be OK till a shed built up and then he might throw a low number. 1.5 units 2x/day didn't seem to be enough. But now, he's just high. I have remained at 2 units 2x/day because my husband doesn't test and I am gone a lot - would rather err on the high side. Maybe I just need to increase the dosage, or maybe I have a bad batch of insulin. We started a new pen just a few weeks ago. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks!~

Hi! I see in one of your earlier posts you said you and your husband work multiple jobs and you are the one that tests so you're somewhat limited in that regard, but would it be possible to get some more mid-cycle readings, maybe before bed? It's really hard to figure out what dosing changes need to be made without more of a picture of what's been happening. It's possible that Miles needs an increase, but without a few more tests it's also possible that he's going low mid-cycle and then his body overreacts and sends his BG high by the next shot time. If you could get some mid-cycle tests for a few days it would help those who give dosing advice to come to a better conclusion. Would there be a few days - like on the weekend - where you could get mid-cycle reading for a few cycles in a row, and add those to the spreadsheet? It's really helpful that you have the spreadsheet set up and are testing, just keep at it and you'll be able to find a dose that works for Miles.

I agree with Amy. You dont know for sure how low Miles is going. He could be going green every other day or night and you wouldnt know.

If anything try and always get a before bed test, and if that is the same as, or lower than the preshot, set the alarm for a +6 because it likely means some degree of active cycle. And definately if the preshot is blue!

Also see if you can get your shot times more consistent - try and not move it by more than 30 mins a day and see if that helps.
