My chatran won't eat again and have a very runny poo. We tried all antibiotic without success. All the blood work done and came negative on everything. I don't know what causes this. I ask the vet if we could try and give him flagyl.

My question is. Does it have a bad side effect. I am so tired and run down.

Thank you

Flagyl is the trade name for generic metronidazole. It is an antibiotic the works in the GI tract and has anti inflammatory properties for the gut too.
It is commonly used for GI problem like diarrhea and loose stools.
Has the stool be tested for parasites?

Hi Rosie,

I know you're overwhelmed right now; just take one day at a time. You really are doing a great job managing everything.

We have used Flagyl for three of our cats. All of them were adopted from the Humane Society and had giardia, which is why they were given Flagyl. It took a while for the Flagyl to work, but it eventually took care of the problem. I'm sure Flagyl does have some potential side effects, but I never noticed any with our cats.

Yes it's been tested and given the all clear. I know something is really not right as his third eyelid is not improving.

And why kitties always sick over the weekend when the vet clinic is closed. Now he's not eating, I'm going to stress if I have to give him insulin or not

A tiny pinch of plain psyllium powder may help soak up some of the excess fluid and give the feces some form while you work on finding and treating the cause.

Thank you. Will go and get some. But now he's not eating at all.

Did the vet not give you anything for his appetite? Is he showing any signs of nausea (e.g. lip licking after he manages to eat anything, sniffing food but not touching it)?

I feel for you.

Yes all of the above. Lip licking, sniffing but not touching.
No the vet wouldn't give me, I did asked and he said only if he's loosing weight but now he is.
I will really ask him because it seems like he only sick on bank holiday at least I have something here as a back up.

Sometimes, 1/4 tablet of plain Pepcid AC can help if the upset is due to too much acid.
