Hello all,
I have been posting about my civvie Slappy.... her eating problems, loosing my 14 yr. old Gumpy, getting an alien Lil Sista all in a very very short time....Slappy has not had to have a tummy tube as of yet...she is eating dry cuz that is all she will eat and right now, I am very proud of her for eating.....
I have tried tuna, tuna water, dried shrimps, tuna flakes, chicken boiled, raw chicken livers - SHE HATES ALL OF IT!
NOW, I have found that she likes sardines... oh man, does she like those... It is what got her jump started back to eating......

Question is: what the hell else can I offer her (that she will turn down) besides fish?????????
I know that it is not good to feed fish every day, but that is all she really wants! URGGGGGG!
She weighed 6.5 on Saturday and 5.8 on Tuesday last week.

I do put the hip and joint in her food and she loves that but not good for Sugar Bean if she happens to steal food..... She eats the Blue Buffalo Indoor dry... switched from Purina One... (I think that is lower carb. dry).

I am at my wits end with this picky picky girl! Any help/advice will do!
BTW... WELCOME TO OUR NEW ALIEN...LIL SISTA.....that will eat anything! BUZY AT WORK! LOL

Please try and get her off the dry food... dry food contains so much unneed cra...... I mean.. they're obligate carnivores and should be eating only raw meat... in lieu of that ( I just can't) I feed the boys low carb FF and Stevie has been off the juice for 3 plus years now.... It sounds like your family is as mixed up as mine..

It is feeding raw fish one shouldn't ever do - since raw fish breaks down the B-vitamins.

Here where I live, it is the wild in-lake fish we have national warnings of to eat too much off, especially pregnant women, due to toxins from farming and industries ending up in the lake water. But we don't have such warnings on wild ocean fish.

So the sardines should be fine, but Larry & Kitties recently gave a link to oils toxic to cats, and I would ask him since the sardines are canned in oil, if that oil is one of the toxic ones.

Do you have makerel or herring where you live? Or salmon? Here in Sweden we feed cats many different ocean fish and many cats likes pan fried makerel and herring, and cooked salmon. I am from a west coastal ocean town, so all sorts of ocean fish is our thing here :-)

With mine, I've tried wild game as deer and hare and reindeer, they didn't like the deer but liked the hare - I guess it is similar to rabbit - and they liked the reindeer, and then they also like raw beef. I even bought imported crocodile meat to try and see if they liked that but never got around to serve it to them.

But here are what mine like:

handpeeled fresh shrimps
makarel
hare
reindeer
beef

I would get sardines packed in water--then you don't have to worry about anything toxic in the oil. I used to mix them in with Gabby's food to get her to eat sometimes.
