When you are testing at home, taking kitty to the vet for glucose tests is IMHO an exercise in futility and an expensive one. Not only do you already have data but you have more accurate data since most kitties get stressed out at the vet which can elevate their BG by 100 points or more. One off tests do not tell you nearly as much as the testing you do randomly at home.

Look at all that beautiful green!! :D:D:D:D:D

Great job with the signature too!!….If you want to, you can put even more information into your profile....like how you met Biscuit, something about the family...anything you want to add to make your page more "personal" and tell your story.

It's not required or anything. It's just something some people do.

I agree that there's no need to test every 2 hours today....just grab a couple of tests....maybe +3 and +8.....IF he starts to go up and you're in any way concerned about whether you may need to shoot tonight, grab a +11 too...that gives you time to get some advice

I will do that! I have a timer set for a +3 that will go off in 39 mins. I plan on getting another reading today, Ill do that at +8 like you recommend and then another before what would be dinner then shot time. I am keeping my fingers crossed he stays in the green today. He's been through a lot this week and a break from shots would be so nice for all of us. IF IF IF that happens and he ends up in remission for a while Any idea how long this vile of Vetsulin is good for? It doesent expire until March of 2020. Do most just keep it in the fridge until it expires in case its needed again?

I think most of the time, we put a cap on about 6 months once the insulin vial has been pierced.

Now with an insulin like Lantus that you can get in pens, as long as the pen isn't pierced, it's good until the expiration date (usually about 2 years from time of purchase)

What wonderful news! :D

Eventually you may get to where you only need to check every week or month or so, but I’m so glad you were testing him so you would know the insulin was no longer needed!

Hurray Biscuit!!!! :D

Fantastic news about Biscuit!!

If he can go for 14 days in normal numbers, he'll officially be OTJ!!

Thank goodness you started testing at home!!

Hurrah for Biscuit!! I love home testing because M'row is totally asymptomatic at scary low numbers. It's not the meter; I have two relion Prime meters (one for the hypo box) and they give identical results.
