My cat, Kitty, was dx with diabetes last February. I have been an active member here since then. Last week, my dog, Sally, crashed and was taken to the local ER vet and was dx with Pancreatitis. She spent 4 days in ICU at the University Vet Hospital, before slowly beginning to improve. Her BG was 579 at the time of admission and she was placed on an insulin (R) drip. The vet was hoping, as was I, that the diabetes was transient and would improve as the pancreas inflamation subsided. Well, no such luck! She is beginning to get her appetite back and is eating more--and her BG is continuing to increase.

I have seen it mentioned here that Rebecca has a site for Diabetic Dogs. Can anyone provide me with the link to the site?

I am getting way to much experience in caring for Diabetic Pets!!!

I am sorry to hear this Kim! At least the learning curve won't be quite as steep for your pup. I hope he continues to get better.

The bad thing with dogs is that if you do not control the diabetes well, dogs get cataracts. In cats it has only a minor speed up of causing cataracts.
