Thelma is on lantus, her number was 59 this morning, gave her dry food and a bit of honey, testing again in a few minutes, what else do I need to do? Is this emergency vet low? She threw up this morning also.
Thelmas chart

no other complications or health issues.

Did you give insulin at the 59? Normal is 50-120 on a human meter. As long as you didn't give insulin just feed her her regular food. Not an emergency.

We Didn’t give insulin. I gave her honey and dry food, (although she immediately threw up the dry food.) Retested 20 min after first reading of 59 and she was at 270. Do I give her wet food now?

how would an inaccurate number happen?
Meter error. Too small of a sample. Anytime you get an out of the ordinary number is not a bad idea to retest. Looks like you over corrected. No need to panic about that kind of number unless she's not hit naidar and is still dropping. If it's time to eat them sure, feed her.

Honestly I had no idea a metor error could occur like that. What is naidir??

Hi. While that 59 scared you it was at the end of the cycle. No need to give hc food. In fact you should first test again to see if there’s a meter error or bad strip as mentioned. Next if the second reading is around the same, stall, DON’T feed, and recheck in 20 minutes. If the second reading is around your normal preshot reading proceed. If not post and ask for dosing advice and don’t feed. Test again in 20 minutes.

There’s a big learning curve.
