Hi,
Well its Boogar's first home curve day, I took her first test at 5:00 am it was 119 before feeding, she has been, running normal all week, I have tested her twice a day with the exception of yesterday when I checked her at noon and she was 138, then I tested at 5:00 pm and she was 100, so she has not had insulin since sat. Am I suppossed to check her every 2 hrs for 8hrs, or please tell me how this works, I can only trust you my friends, I do not want call the DR.

PLEASE ANSWER ASAP

I'd suggest first you smile! This is very close to a normal number, off insulin. We consider a cat in remission if they range from 40-120 with the majority of their time in double digits, without insulin.

Today, I would test before and maybe an hour after eating. If the numbers go down, it means her pancreas is working. I would skip the curve today and just get some random numbers. If she sneaks up into the 200 range, then we rethink.

Patti,
Sue is right. If you haven't given any insulin, then there aren't any rules about when to test. If you test before a meal, then feed, give the food an hour and test again. You could test a couple of hours after that.
What you would be looking for is a rise in BG after eating, and then a drop in BG that would indicate that the pancreas is working and trying to regulate the blood glucose.

I hope so hope she is already broken :-D .

Being diet controlled is a ton easier than being insulin controlled.

I've got my fingers crossed. you would still need to test if she is diet controlled but not every day like we do.

Hi,
So these are the times and numbers so far,

5:am before feeding - 119 BG
7:am post feeding - 89
10:am - 95

Please let me know
Patti

Patti,
Those numbers are beautiful. You can just do the same routine before and after the next time you would normally feed her. But right now, it sure doesn't look like she's needing any insulin.
