The vet said to do a curve today. Nairobi ate this morning and I took a reading. When I gave a shot the needle bent. I couldn’t tell if he got a dose or not (1u Prozinc) I took another reading an hour later and his levels went up so I gave him a shot (1 u). The levels started down. He’s due to eat in about 2 hours but he’s well below 200 so i don’t think I should shoot. It’s possible he got the bent needle shot and I double dosed this morning.

He was diagnosed a week ago so I’m new at this. I’d appreciate any advise you can offer.

Definitely don't give another shot, but keep monitoring to make sure it continues to go up.

If you give a shot and you're not sure if it went in, never give another shot. It's much better to underdose for a cycle than give too much. We've all messed up shots, it happens, but giving another can be dangerous because then you're not sure how much they've got.

NEVER re-shoot.....there's no way to know how much insulin actually got in....just continue on and mark it as a furshot

The numbers you get an hour after shooting will almost always be higher than the Pre-shot number because you've fed them. It's called a "food bump".

Thanks . Just retested and it’s 163. Fed him dinner so he won’t get another shot until tomorrow
