Just for discussion:
When you have a finicky feline what do you do?
Just curious as to how everyone handles their finicky felines even if they aren't diabetic...And Go!

There have been some lively threads covering this subject as there are several of us having our issues with diet. You didn't say exactly what issue you are dealing with but no matter what, I feel your pain! Have a look at these two threads and you'll find all sorts of tips and tricks to try. Hopefully one of them works for you. I unfortunately am still in a battle of wits with my girl. I am still at it but my head hurts from trying to outsmart my furry wonder!:cat::arghh:

@MrWorfMen's Mom I did not specify any issues because I am not having any....I only posted for the sole reason of discussion, and should I have issues I'll be prepared. :)

Oh I am happy to hear that because from my perspective (and a few others) the diet change has been and still is the hardest issue to deal with. Who would have ever guessed that testing and injecting a cat could be easier than getting them to eat a fish dinner!?!:arghh: They can be really stubborn, willful little critters sometimes but that's part of the reason we love them so much! Mine definitely lives up to her name! I asked for an extroverted kitten and boy did I get one!:cat::woot::woot::woot:

When I first transitioned Jazmine to wet food. Yes I felt hopeless the first few times, but I kept at it. Jazmine just so happens to Love turkey, so I cooked up a turkey patty and mixed it with her food. At first she only ate the Turkey. She had to have it warmed up. Then one day she left the Turkey but ate the wet food. At this point I knew we were headed in the right direction. At first I had to spoon or hand feed her the wet, but the day came when I was finally able to get her to eat it on her own. She will not eat the pate unless it is hand fed to her. But she is eating wet food and has been since March. Her health has improved. She only gets a little bit of kibble to keep her happy. At first I would let her skip one or two meals, every couple of days as it seemed every time I opened a new can or it was different flavor she didn't like but now it's like she's been eating wet all her life! Her health and energy are so much better since being on mostly wet. She only gets about 1/8-1/4 Cup of Dry Purina Pro Plan each morning.

Oh how I wish it were that easy with my sugar kid. Despite being a stealthy hunter, I seriously doubt she would ever survive in the wild!

I have been trying to get her to eat anything that does not crunch since she was 10 weeks old. She will have none of it. She tries to bury her step-brothers' soft food as if it's waste and I have paint chipped off my kitchen wall as a result. I have tried every ploy, trick, additive etc. found here, on the web, people's suggestions and a whole list of other things but nothing works. She would rather starve than get near (and I seriously mean get near) any soft food. It is hard to get her to even sniff it. And trying to get anything into her mouth (eg. medication) is like dealing with a case of lockjaw and neither of us are happy with each other when done.

She won't take baby food, plain or fried chicken, turkey, roast beef, pork, halibut, cod, smoked oysters.... any fish and the list goes on. I tried powdered parmesan cheese and thought I had found the magic bullet but alas she'll lick it off my hand but refuses to eat any food tainted with it!

Having tried baking canned food (not recommended due to stench left in the house), I have now purchased a dehydrator but have to admit I am procrastinating with that because I am so frustrated already and I am pretty sure that honking big appliance is going to end up being more fodder for a garage sale!

I've considered caviar but one has to draw a line in the sand somewhere.:woot: So I am still scratching my head (you should see the bald spot) as to what else to try when I have gone through the latest selection of canned cat food sitting on my counter and tried the dehydrator. :banghead: .

I'm looking for someone to take her for a month and see if they have more luck than I'm having. I'll pay her room and board!:woot::woot:
