I currently have 7 cats, non are diabetic but one does need to be pilled twice a day.

Has anyone hired someone to medicate a pet twice a day?
Where do you start to find someone?
I’ve asked at my vet if they could recommend someone and they said they don’t do that.
I want to avoid boarding my medicated cat as it’s stressful for him and he has a heart condition.
I can’t take him with me because I’m concerned about the stress of a flight on him.

The person I had relied on in the past is no longer available so I need to find another solution.

Friends, family, neighbors, pet sitting services, coworkers.
Vet techs, from other vet clinics than your own. Call and ask around.
Social media networks.
Better to find someone in your neighborhood or local town. In case the weather is bad and travel is treacherous.
Nextdoor is a social media site some people use.
Teach a teenager in your neighborhood how to take care of your cats. One of my friends has done this multiple times. She found young pre-teens or teenagers to feed the cat and then an adult to medicate the cat when needed.
Reach out to people in other cat groups for recommendations.
Find someone on here that lives close enough to you to cat sit for you.
Exchange pet sitting duties with another cat owner friend.
Check the bulletin boards at the vet office, local grocery store, town hall or public library. Sometimes people that pet sit will post a flyer there.

Meet with and interview the person. Have them meet your cats.

(I've been cat sitting and pilling cats for a couple of friends for years. Cat sitting for a diabetic cat who's owner I met on here, nearly 7 years ago now.)

Try another vet clinic near you. May vet techs or assistants will have a side business. Don't ask the vet, ask the front desk staff, or see if they have an ad board - most clinics do. I have a kitty that needs daily meds, and once every couple weeks needs a few pills a day. One thing I did was get the daily med compounded into a chew treat. Easier for me and for any petsitter. Also try calling the local humane society or animal shelter or cat rescue to see if they have any names. They might also have staff willing to make a little extra.

Do you have a vet school near your, or college for vet techs?
