? finally got dental surgery, continue same dose?

Pockets has just about healed from dental surgery, and I am a little afraid to continue the 3.5U 2x day dose we had him on beforehand. I got a little paranoid but got too busy to call the vet and fell off giving it for a over week. Should I start low again or resume the old dose?

My fear is that if the infection was cleared he'll react more strongly to it. I started him back up on it at 1U and numbers are still high so I figure I can resume the normal dose, but working all day and sleeping at night has me scared i’ll miss a hypo.

I am calling the vet tomorrow as his urinating seems more frequent (and more frequently out of the box) and he has soft stools. pooed for the first time just outside the box yesterday (guessing from inside it, over the edge) so none of this is super urgent but I was wondering others thoughts on reducing doses post-surgery or infection removal.

I do not have an updated spreadsheet yet! I will work on it this weekend again and have it up if I post again soon, i’m sorry.

When was the dental surgery done? Any teeth pulled?
What lc wet are you feeding?
I see you have switched to Lantus says it on your spreadsheet, you need to go to your signature and put Lantus as of 8-17 ,tap in your name above and tap on signature and please add it , so members don't think you are using Vetsulin
I see you work but can you get some tests in when you get home?
You have hardly any tests after PMPS cycle ,you need to get some tests in even if you have to set an alarm at night. You will never know how the insulin us working .
You were increasing by whole units in the beginning on your SS and then by half units
We don't give a dose based on the Pre Shots ,we base them in how low the cat is dropping. You will never know unless you start testing more.
Also you need to be testing every AMPS and PMPS
Your doses are all over the place
He's most likely peeing more and outside the box because he's not close to being regulated.
We increase or decrease units by 0.25
Not criticizing you at all just letting you know you need to be testing a lot more so you can Pockets regulated
I can't give you any dosing advice but I can tag a few members for you .
Do you have U-100 syringes with half unit markings, if not I suggest you get some , makes it easier for when you adjust the dose byb0.25 units
You can read all about Lantus here

If you plan to keep posting on the Lantus Board we have a certain way to post, plus I suggest you do a new post everyday so members can follow along and help you
We all do a new post every day on the Lantus Board, You would first put the
Date Pockets His AMPS # and any additional tests after that and you can continue with his PMPS #
We also attach our previous days post to the new post
I attached the last post you did above
To add those additional postvto your title look to the right you will see the word Thread Tools tap on that then tap on Edit Title ,add your tests then tap save

While you are changing things, could you update your signature to show that you are now using Lantus.

Typically we don't reset the dose after a dental, but rather let the BG numbers tell us what to do. Hence our interest in seeing your test data. It's not uncommon for the BG to in fact go up for a while after a dental, in reaction to inflammation from the surgery. Then back down again as the healing happens.
