I HAVE to post about this because I was starting to think it would NEVER happen. I took Mia to see an Internal Medicine Specialist today. He was wonderful! We had a great discussion and were on the same page on pretty much everything. We are staying with ProZinc for now, and I have a new vial coming tomorrow. (Toward the end of the current vial, it is not working correctly. If I give what should be an appropriate dose, it slams her down low, so I have stuck with a really low does just to get through till I could get more. I suspect that is because, in the very beginning, I did not know to roll it several times each time. The first vet just said do not shake it.
I had to learn to roll it through my own research - like everything else.)
He said to call if I have any questions or concerns, but if not, he just wants us to come back every three months for an exam and probably a urinalysis and blood panel - that is it. He did not want to do a fructosamine or even a BG test today (he did a urinalysis). He said there was no reason to with all of my testing data. (Amen!)
He asked ME what I thought a good dose would be to start out with on the new vial. (WOW!) I told him and explained why. He agreed and wrote up the prescription that way and said, "But, you know you can change the dose as needed though." We talked about and agreed upon a plan of action related to dose changes, but he is fine leaving it in my hands. (WOW again!) He said he wishes all of the people he works with were like me.
(I do not think the last vet would agree.)
I am so very relieved. That is one stress off my shoulders!
