20 cans for $11. Individual cans are $0.55 each.

The sale may not be available everywhere so check your local Target ad http://weeklyad.target.com.

If your local Target does have the sale, be sure to check the back shelves of the pet supply aisles (facing the exterior store wall). At my local Target, all the FF Classics on sale were put on a shelf at the back of the cat food aisle. The non-Classic ones on sale were in on the shelf as usual in the cat food aisle.

Columbus, OH Target online ad had it; Pet SUpplies Plus honored it and I got 2 cases at discount.

Thanks!

Don't know if anyone shops at BI-LO supermarkets, but I got FF cans today for 48¢ per can! (normal price 60¢)

Those that bought would you need to buy case of one flavor? And we are new, have not started insulin! Yet  trying food tweaks initially, repeat sugar next week. If feed varied canned food lo carb, wouldn't that be tricky starting and maintaining insulin? Have to check CVS too. Right now just learned of issue yesterday.

The FF selection at CVS may be very limited. At least around here it is :?

I don't think you can get a case of just one variety. FF has different cases with 3 different varieties. I think these are the low carb ones:

http://www.petfooddirect.com/Product/463/Fancy-Feast-Gourmet-Variety-Pack-Canned-Cat-Food

You can get the case of grilled or sliced varieties to keep on hand in case your cat hypos.

Yes, changing the diet while on insulin is tricky because blood glucose levels are affected. That is why we recommended doing the diet change first and then start insulin no more than a week later.

If a cat starts insulin and then does the diet change, you would have to monitor blood glucose levels very closely at home to catch any big drops in blood glucose levels, which can happen from a diet change. The insulin dose may need to be lowered to prevent hypos.

I was always annoyed by FF "case" deals because the varieties included ones an FD shouldn't have. However I frequently bought whole cases of just one variety at the big pet stores, frequently still shrink wrapped. Ask for a deal such as $1.00 off per case if you buy multiple cases. Customers don't often do this, so they don't know if it's available. If they hear you have a special needs cat they also may be more inclined toward the discount. Or say, Petco did it for me last week, if you're in Petsmart and vice versa ;-)

It never hurts to ask!

I mean like pre dx I always fed variety of mostly fancy feast, varied flavors, sometimes Natures Variety Instinct Lamb, Turkey, or Chicken, big cans fed 1/3 can, FF fed whole can per meal.

If I am using just those in low carb list but vary flavors , would that complicate insulin? Do people generally use just 1-2 flavors of fancy feast or do the rotate (which we have always done with Missy and prior cats.) believe me I am not tied to wanting to stay hills for her, far from it!
Understand concept of avoiding carbed dry, for many reasons want a dry available, but want the dry that's better quality as well as lower carb, in case of hypo, as well as quality. We also have fed her 1/3-1/2 patty of freeze dried Stella and Chewy's rehydrated with aloe juice for liver protectant plus additional Water. Her cd is steroid induced and I am in process of cutting the Pred if not eliminating depending on her response.

Well you can certainly feed several different varieties of food  Some cats like to have variety in the diet. Keep the carb content around the same number to minimize fluctuation in bg numbers. Some cats are really carb sensitive and may be fine on 5% carb or less food but a 7% carb food may spike bg levels.

Dry food alone takes too long to work for a hypo. The gravy part of gravy based canned food works best. You could lace some dry food with the gravy and give that to your cat during a hypo.

Re: FF Classics on sale at Target this week

I do a variety but they are all in the same carb 'family'- all 2% or 3%.

Sneakers is very carb conscious and her levels really do fluctuate b/n 1% like a roller coaster ride.

To see if your cat is carb conscious just feed the same can for 3 or 4 days and see if the numbers level out (took Sneakers a week for this). Currently we are on 3% carbs until as there are more varieties to feed than the 2%- and not all of them are fish  . Once regulated I will begin to try her out on the ones up to 5% but won't go higher than that.

So hard to know reliably which are 3% carb think will hi light list, I always added some freeze dried raw to the cans too as they are low protien. Was glad to see traders tuna also low carb.
