Hi, I've noticed that Squeaky can't see the treats I throw across the room very well. The vet said maybe he had some opacity in his eyes but the pupils contracted with shining a light on them.

I didn't connect it to diabetes until I saw a commercial on TV for some med for humans with diabetes that mentioned vision is an issue with diabetes.

Would someone kindly direct me to some information about this? Thanks so much.

Humans and dogs frequently have vision problems caused by diabetes. Unless BG of doses are tightly controlled they develop cataracts but that is not the case in cats, Cats may slowly develop cataracts but they are easily visible, even to the naked eye so a vet would easily be able to see them. Cats may get Diabetic Retinopathy like in humans but that does not seem that common in cats. It appears it is not that easy for a vet to diagnose it since in humans it requires the eyes to be dilated, a dye injected in a vein and the back of the examined via an Ophthalmoscope.
High blood pressure can also cause retinal detachment but that frequently results in blindness.

An visit to an eye specialist, an ophthalmologist, might be in order
