Wanted to get the word out since some may be feeding it because it's low carb:

Lot numbers again for suspect lots of cat food:

Wild Calling Cabin Fever (chicken) best by Jan 26, 2020—lot number 73CCFM5 0531,

Wild Calling Cowabunga (beef) best by Aug 18 2019– lot number 73CBMS 1549

Oh no! When this food first came out, I spoke with the owners and they really seemed very conscientious and concerned. In fact, originally, they were using Evangers plant but when Evanger started having all those issues, they got away from them because they were worried about “guilt by association” even though they did their own canning.....they just did it at Evangers.

Makes me glad, once again, that I feed raw.

Me tooooooooo Marje!

ETA: I thought the same thing when I read Jill's post. At the very least for peeps who can't stomach raw, make your own cooked cat food. I am planning on doing that in the next few weeks in preparation for going away and having to have the pet sitter come in twice a day and not wanting raw food in the auto feeder for more than 30 minutes.

We can't control the pet food companies but, we can control what we give our fur babies.

Rant over........Thank you.

Wow I have one of those in the cupboard right now (haven't checked the lot number yet) because I used to feed them to Boomer but he wasn't a big fan.

I feed the girls wild calling as well. I typically never buy the cowabunga but just bought two cans to try. I also have cabin fever I'll have to check my cans.

I just checked, none of my cans have these lot numbers
IMHO, if a company has a huge issue like this even just once, that would be enough for me to switch foods. Pentobarbital is the drug they use to euthanize animals and it should not be in pet food. It raises a huge question in my mind where Wild Calling is sourcing their meats.

This is not the first company that has had this issue and animals have died from eating pet food with pentobarbital. It's just not worth the risk even if your cans are not in this lot number.

Now, my rant is over :p;)
