Feeding Time

I am so freaking proud of myself. I FINALLY got on a freaking schedule. I was all over the place before (I suffer from insomnia). My cats were being fed in the free feeding style with canned food. Since I started feeding raw food (Primal) I can only leave it down for 2 hours before I have to pick up the bowl. I also really wanted to make sure that Peanut was 3 hour fasted for each test. So this is my new schedule that I've been doing...

8:30am - Test & Feed (raw)
8:45ish am - Inject
2:30pm - 1/2 of a 5.5 oz can
8:30pm - Test & Feed (raw)
8:45ish pm - Inject
11:00pm - 1/2 of a 5.5 oz can (the other half from earlier in the day)

I leave the raw food out for the 2 hours that the package says is safe and then I pick it up, so from 10:30am until 2:30pm they have nothing. Thing is, they leave food in their bowl and when I throw it out they come crying for more food. At the 2:30pm feeding it's canned and I just leave out, they usually have eaten all of it by 5pm so I know that Peanut is good to go on the 3 hour fast. They will beg for more food between this time too. Do you guys think that my schedule looks reasonable? I want the kids to learn that there are meal times and that they can't just expect food 24/7 anymore. I am feeding 4 times a day, that's pretty good. Anyway, what do you guys think?

Also the reason why the 8:30 and 11:00 are so close together is because I'm trying to get to sleep by 11:00 so that I can get up in the morning and keep this schedule going. I just want to give them something to munch on in the middle of the night.

Thanks,
Erika

What really counts is consistency. You schedule is a little abnormal but it is consistent. It should be fine for a diabetic cat.

I can relate
I have bad insomnia.
It is almost 1 am and I get up to test feed shoot at 4:30 am.
We also have figured out a plan and I agree whatever works for you.
The only issue I will have is when I go out of town and my sitter getting up at 4:30 may be asking a bit much
