I am wondering if I'm doing this wrong... ohmygod_smile
I got the check eat shoot thing down (or shoot while eating if BG is high enough)
But is it possible that the "snacks" are giving me higher numbers? FOR EXAMPLE...
Feed and shoot @ 6:30/6:45 am
But if they snack around +6 will it "ruin" my +7 or +8 numbers??
Then after PM meal and shot I give them snack (bigger snack to hold the through the night) at PM+ 3.5 or so...so then the PM +4 or +5 would also be ruined????
I may need to rethink my schedule :YMSIGH:

Kristina,

Don't think of it in terms of it "ruining your numbers". He can eat a few times a day, no problem. As long as you keep track of when he's eating, the numbers you get will make logical sense to anyone looking at your spreadsheet. Yes, usually food will result in a higher number an hour or so later, but as long as you keep that in mind, your test results will make sense to you.

The only time you don't want him to eat is for a couple of hours prior to your "AMPS and PMPS" tests. You want those tests, before his shots, to be "fasting" BG numbers. It helps if you do most of the feeding during the first six hours after a shot, but if you are giving him a snack at +6, it's not screwing anything up.

It's OK to leave the canned food out for grazing until the 2 hours before the next shot.

Smearing it across a plate may slow down scarf 'n' barf issues.

Freezing part and putting out both unfrozen and frozen will slow down eating the frozen part.

And, budget permitting, a timed feeder such as the PetMate 5 can help spread out food consumption, too.
