I am trying to get Catee switched over to Young Again Zero Carb. He did eat it yesterday but only 2 ozs. I looked up on the site about how many calories he should be getting re Dr Lisa's formula. From my calculation it should be 233 cal a day. He weighs 14 pounds (at the vet last time) but I did the calculation on 12 pounds.

So YA Zero Carb is 590 kcal per cup. If he eats 2 ozs then he is getting about 147 cal... difference of 85 cals. Now I know Dr Lisa said her calculation was generous.

YA website has a page that shows 4 tbs for a 14lb cat which is 2 ozs while the bag the food comes in says 10lbs to 14 lbs eat 1/3 cup to 1/2 cup.

I guess my question to the board is in your opinion is he eating enough at 2 ozs of Young Again?

If not I will have to start him back on Hills M/D.

Thank you
D

If his glucose numbers stay stable, and he doesn't seem hungry, and his weight remains at a good level, he should be fine.
That's one of those things where time will tell. Have you got a digital scale to weigh him?

Also, 2 tablespoons is 1/4 cup.

Thank you. He doesn't seem hungry. I even put the Hills M/D out and he went for the Young Again. I do not have a digital scale... I will have to get one.

Try your local Craigslist, Freecycle, Amazon, or 2nd hand baby supply store for a scale.
If he's squirmy, get one for adults and you can do the weight by subtracting your weight from your weight when holding him.

Looks like I spoke too soon. He hasn't ate at all today. I think it made his tummy feel bad. Hopefully he will go back to the Hills M/D. I should not have just switched him over so quickly.

Merry Christmas :)
