Hi-
I am interested if anyone has experience in increasing the % dry matter content of food with diabetic cats.
Marco was first diagnosed with pancreatitis; 1.5 years later was diabetic. In an attempt to be gentle on the pancreas, I put him on a low fat diet as we worked to get insulin under control. I have him on canned with ~10% dry matter fat and raw with ~16% dry matter fat.
Most raw foods I see range 25-30% fat for cats. Once his BG is stable, I am looking at the option of changing his raw food to something with higher fat content. I'm very concerned this will irritate is pancreas and/or change his BG numbers.
Anyone have experience in changing a diabetics food regarding dry matter fat content? The carb levels would stay the same.
Thank you, I appreciate any input.
