Good morning all,
Sammy had a good night. She asked for food a few times, so I was up a bit with her, but that might have been more for my benefit than hers. She is quiet, content, and eating well. No signs of pain, and no signs of being mad at me. She is holding out her cheeks for scritches, and no flinching.
I have some pain meds (Metacam) to give her over the next 3 days, prn. The vet pre loaded 3 syringes with it. She is not complaining at the moment. Apparently some of the local anesthetic might still be in effect in her mouth, and she might get growly later.
Her BG was high all day at the vet, (up to 400ish at times) but with no insulin that morning and the stress, that was no surprise, and she dropped 100 points back to 312 on her own (no insulin given) by PMPS time. I tested her a short while ago (which would be PM+10) and she was 254.
I had them run all the blood work yesterday too. Besides the usual pre op panel, I asked for a fructosimine, and it was 397. That translates to GOOD control of her diabetes. Excellent would be 300-350.
The vet also thinks that I should watch carefully over the next week to 10 days, as she thinks her BG will drop fast now that the pain and stress from her sore mouth will be gone, and to watch for an opportunity to do an OTJ trial then.
It sure feels good to have all that information about her lab work and having seen the xrays, I know her dental problems have been dealt with. $1400.00 later, of course.
I will update with her AMPS #' in an hour.
Thanks again for all the terrifc support. I really felt it all day yesterday.
