FAT DOSE

He may have had a little food bump today from the florentine food. I know we have both tried to figure out how many carbs are really in that food. Just keep track of every time you feed that (as you already do) and we will see if there’s a pattern. It may also make a difference depending upon when in the cycle you feed it, too.

I would just hold the dose. He probably will be green tonight a little later in the cycle.
Will do keep you posted:bighug:

You could be right about the Florentine, I fed him Tuna Florentine that in carb calculator gave a 2.5%, and the Whitefish Florentine 10%, but it has to be wrong as you say I take the numbers from the Chewy.com per can in the nutrient portion, then calculate, I have always been usure about the carbs, I will just keep those as medium carbs
precaution from now on, both Corky and Coco go crazy for those flavors, Have a wonderful weekend:bighug::bighug::cat:

Hi Maria! I know you have been concerned about Corky’s numbers creeping up. I see you started a new vial of ProZinc. I don’t see much change in numbers today, but that’s okay. I would wait a few more cycles to see how it goes and, if you still want to fatten his dose up a little (as you mentioned) then go ahead— if you just would like slightly lower greens.

I'll wait and see how tonight goes, and wait till the weekend, it's amazing if we look back on how I use to react to these numbers!:D:D:D:bighug::bighug::cat::cat:

You handle them like a champ now! I think it’s a good idea to wait a bit. There’s no rush, as Corky is still doing extremely well!

If this one this is approx 15% carb by dry matter. I will need to look up how the metabolized energy is calculated again but that number will be similar I think. Maybe I did the math wrong or maybe it’s a different food. I need to feed a snack but will check back later and am happy to calculate if you link to the food in question. It won’t be as exact as Dr P’s list bc it is based on Guarenteed analysis not Typical nutritional analysis but it will be a close number.

That’s kind of you, Colleen. We have seen different numbers on this food published by Chewy and on various food lists. Maria and I have questioned these numbers. Anyway, I think we finally decided that the bottom line for us is that this food tends to raise Corky’s numbers and Maria doesn’t use it on a regular basis anymore. I think she’s saving it for when she wants to bump him up a little bit. Too bad, because Corky likes it.

This is the same FF ( in a light broth), there are different types, I use in case I see number in the 60's, and it's 10-15% Medium Carb, I only use 1/2 - 1 tsp when in that situation, for snack I use ham making sure is 1-2 % carb in little squares, Fancy Feast has a treat 0% carbs natural called Purely FF Natural Hand-Flaked Tuna Treats

That’s good to know, I’ve been looking for a zero or low carb tuna treat, thanks! I bought freeze dried tuna, supposedly 100% tuna, to crumble on his food and it was high in carbs! How they got it high in carbs I have no idea as they haven’t answered my email yet…

Seriously! It’s tuna! It can’t be high in carbs so something is rotten in the State of Denmark! Let us know if they give you an explanation.

Numbers are beginning :bighug::bighug::cat::cat:to look verter but Tonight Just in case I’m checking every hour!!
We are still reaching high 90s, should we change anything?? even though there has been several high 60s, nothing has changed for Corky, diet is the same. should I not worry? continue for a couple of cycles with Fat dose?:bighug::bighug::cat::cat::confused:

It doesn’t seem to have had much effect. Definitely do not worry. He is fine. I would hold it for a few more cycles and if you really want lower greens then do the full increase to 1.5 as long as you will be able to monitor.

You know my monitoring regimen, especially after any dose change as you can see yesterday’s SS. I’ll wait till Sundays PMPS , and see, it saddens me having the need to increase instead of decreasing, but it is what it is:bighug::bighug::cat::cat:

I got so used seeing low greens that now anything over 85 and blues worries me, if by Wednesday we don’t see better results should we increase to 1.5 even if it saddens me? The FAT dose is not doing much so far?:bighug::cat::cat:
Yes. If you want to see lower greens, you can increase to 1.5 any time you are ready.

Okay. Sounds good. By all means don’t get stressed about it. Corky is still a nicely regulated cat. He doesn’t have any numbers that are harmful or damaging to his kidneys. He’s a lucky boy to have you to take care of him.

Thank you, I’m lucky to have him we woke up this morning with 113 just now they’re eating. Happy Sunday:bighug::bighug::cat::cat:

definitely considering increasing to 1.5 I don't like what I see, Corky's BG is higher than normal during the day, everything in his care has remained the same, schedules, meals, no stress, too many blues and not pleasant ones to my eyes, also, finally, 2 days ago he went back to his water bowl, which is great, since his water drinking trauma, he never bothered again, but I never stopped placing the bowl, just as a precaution I also had placed a marker where the bowl fills, so I know if he were to drink more than he should, I would know, I also was traumatized after that as well; it made me very happy, also today I happened to check his lab work when diagnosed, now that I know more about ketones, and happy to say there were none, actually his complete lab work was a winner, only the diabetes @ 650BG. such a Good Boy my Corky 'GOLDEN":bighug::bighug::cat::cat:
