Gotta post fast, currently I am going to. be late for a dinner date with friends, but my fat cat is more important!! So! Exciting new plan, at least in my mind, at least we're working to change. Fat cat saw his new vet today, I showed her the curve, she agreed that something longer acting probably would be best for him, however we're staying on N at least for a little bit longer (I see her again next week to see how things are going/ develop more of a plan). I asked her about food and we did agree on what I was already thinking about, to start the transition to wet food. I told her I was comfortable with the "purina pro-plan focus for urinary tract health chicken entree" since it was still a urinary food, but has less than half the carbs of the current dry food. His current dry food has over 30% carbs, the new pro-plan wet food has 13%, which I know isn't ideal, but it's a step in the right direction, what I am a little concerned about is that the pro-plan website says to feel 1ounce of food per pound of cat, fat cat is 18.6 lbs, should it be 1ounce/pound of what their ideal weight should be, or just actual current weight? At any rate, they are eating a mixture of the old and new to get transitioned, I fed them 2 cans new wet food with the remainder (ended up being .45 cups dry) as dry food. Fat cat was thrilled and licked the bowl clean, biscuit is not impressed, I'm contemplating switching him
To maybe friskies or something since he doesn't have the need for a special diet, it's just so hard to feed them separate, any thoughts? Oh yeah, fat cas PMPS was 427, I will check it at +6 since we started a new food, keeping insulin at 4 units for the moment till more of the low carb wet food is added!!
