? Fastest Method for Ordering Lantus From Marks?

I've never ordered Lantus from Marks in Canada and I would like input on the fastest method to getting the prescription filled and shipped (because my vet screwed me over - they won't call or fax it in which caused me to lose 3-4 days).

The choices are to:
A) pick up a written prescription from the vet, come home and scan it and email it to Marks, then place my order, or
B) place my order and have Marks contact the vet

I'm assuming option A is the quickest, but I've never scanned and emailed a prescription before.

As a side note, I don't know why my vet won't contact the pharmacy. They originally called it in to Walgreen's, so I don't know what their beef is. I also like how they waited until after hours on Saturday to tell me this, so now I have to wait until Monday. :banghead:

You can also just take a picture of it and send it to them.

If you call them on Monday (it's an 800 number), they can tell you the best, fastest way.

Don't be too hard on your vet. The vet probably won't a pharmacy out of country for legal reasons since technically it's illegal to import drugs from another country. If they got caught doing it, I presume they could suffer some severe penalty as a result. That said, it seems your customs folks look the other way when individuals order insulin from Canada so no worries for you. :)

I just ordered for the first time from Mark's. My insulin is due I believe by Monday. I got a RX and took a picture of it and sent it to their test number and then called them about 15 minutes later to make sure they received it which they did and they shipped it out the same day! They are very nice!

@MrWorfMen's Mom , how does Mark's get away with sending meds through the mail? I am so glad that they do, as it saves me about 25 bucks from Costco price for a single pen. I was getting it from Alan in the supply closet and he says Lantus is harder for him to get now...... bummer because he was $45/pen.

They've been doing it for many years....It's always possible that customs will catch it, but in the 4 years I've been ordering from them, I've only heard of it happening once. They returned the package to Marks who sent out another package that arrived safely.

There are millions of packages sent through customs every day from all over the world. The chances of them catching one from Marks is really tiny.

@Bobbie And Bubba I really have no idea. To my knowledge there is no law here prohibiting them sending drugs across the border via mail. It's U.S. customs that could cause a problem but apparently they just turn a blind eye. I presume it's because your meds are so expensive so they let the stuff through because Marks would have to put some kind of custom declaration on the package....or maybe it comes in a plain brown paper wrapper???!! :woot:

I just wanted to comment about US customs. I ordered insulin from Marks for the first time last month and the box had green packing tape across the bottom labeled "examined by us customs and border protection" and I could see that the box had been opened and inspected. I still received my package undamaged and a day ahead of schedule.

Interesting...... @MrWorfMen's Mom , I did not read that before responding to you. Hmmmm..

I hope my package isn't one of the ones they send back.

I was wondering if that would happen. Some insurance companies are switching their coverage over to Basaglar because it's less expensive than Lantus. I figured Lantus would eventually become harder to come by in the Supply Closet since Basaglar and Lantus are both insulin glargine.

I'm also wondering if this will change. Our current president has been making noises about stopping meds coming in from Canada. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I'm guessing that the Customs office that Marks shipments go through, have become so used to seeing those packages that they open very few and just let them go most of the time. Your chances of having your shipment delayed are likely close to 0%.

Hi Jill. That is what another member said could be the issue. It's a bummer because his prices couldn't be beat.

I had not heard that. I wonder why? Just to keep revenue in the US? The whole medical/ drug thing gives me a headache.

What is up with the message about being charged in Canadian funds for paying with a Mastercard? This is confusing. It comes across like I only pay $194 with a Visa, but $254 with a Mastercard (because of the exchange rate). Does anyone know anything about this? I don't want to call Marks again, I've already had enough trouble trying to place this order.
