we have transitioned back to eating this brand, i am trying to keep it to two flavors (classic chicken and turkey/giblets) i was mixing it up and doing 4 kinds (chicken/liver and mixed grill added in the mix) but want to keep it simple, we saw a rise in #s with sophisticat (petsmart brand) which prompted this change.

i wanted to know of those who feed FF which ones they feed and how their bg #'s are i know in the past some have said the mixed grill has raised some levels up

thanks for your input!

When I feed Suzie the classic Fish and shrimp which is whole food her numbers shoot up. The others she seems to be okay with. However, the Fancy feast medley's seem to be a little better but there are only two I feed her. One is Chicken Fare with Garden greens. I forget the name of the other. Suzie isn't real regulated yet so I am not sure if this will help but I do know they her number go way up with the Fish and shrimp seem to come down a little with the Chicken Fare w garden Greens

These are the FF varieties that I used for Jake and that I believe are 80% responsible for his current and long remission (the other 20% goes to the marvelous Lantus insulin) - ALL paws, toes, and fingers crossed plus several antijinxes! These varieties of FF are gluten free and have less than 10% carbs.

I rotate through all the low carb flavors, depending on what the store has available. The staples are chicken and liver, beef and chicken, beef, salmon, and turkey and giblets. Once in a while I get the fish & shrimp, chicken, or cod. I don't notice any change in Bandit's numbers switching between these, since they are all 4% carbs or lower. Before Bandit was diagnosed with diabetes, I fed grain free Wellness & Taste of the Wild dry food, so obviously the dry food was raising his numbers. When I had to set the feeders and i needed a food I could feed to both Bandit and my CRI cat Gabby, i fed Wellness Turkey or EVO and got the same numbers as I did with the FF.

The medleys are a bit higher in carbs than a diabetic cat should have, so I don't feed any of those. The Fish & Shrimp is lower in carbs than the Chicken and Garden greens so I don't think it was the food that made the BG higher.

Joey, who is for the time being off insulin, has a rotation of 3.
Turkey and giblets,
Mixed Grill
Poultry platter

all pates.

He likes all three. I give him half a can at 8am, 2 pm, 8 pm. I add about a tsp. of water and a pinch of CVS' answer to Miralax.

He didn't care for the shrimp or salmon ones.

My kitty is regulated with wheat gluten free varieties of FF but we stick to: Gourmet chicken feast, Turkey and Giblets Feast, Ocean Whitefish and Tuna.

thanks for your responses!
i have learned my lesson trying to get food that is "cheaper" we will be sticking with FF from this point on
we have a few higher #'s in the past 2 weeks (was only testing every 2 mos until symptoms were creeping up again) on the petsmart one,
a vet that i have only spoke to on the phone(i dont currently have a vet since mine doesnt agree with testing etc) said give the FF time to do its thing obviously something in the petsmart brand slowly brought him up so ive got fingers, paws everything crossed he gets back to normal

we are almost to our 2 yr otj party in july....hoping to make it there!! :-D
