Fancy Feast, how much to feed?

After reading Dr Lisa's report on dry cat food, we switched this weekend to Fancy Feast for both of our cats. Sweet Pea, who was diagnosed this week is now 7.8 lbs and Spencer is 16 lbs. Yes he is, but he's a big cat!
We give each of them 1/2 can at meal time but it's not enough for them. They come for another teaspoon, than another. It doesn't seem to fill them up. We can't feed them during the day since we work and can't use an auto feeder because Spencer would eat it all and Sweet Pea would get none! How much of one can should we give them for each meal?
I haven't posted a photo or put Sweet Pea's info in my profile yet because I'm using my Kindle and it's hard to use it. I have to wait until my laptop gets fixed, I don't have her info from the Vet yet. My husband took Sweet Pea to the Vets so I didn't get very much info from him. Someone did give me the link to buy insulin at the Canadian pharmacy and I ordered it today. Thank you for that info! Going to Wal-Mart tomorrow to buy the testing materials.
 
My 16 lb eats 3 cans a day plus a little Young Again Zero carb dry food. So probably the equivalent calories to 3 1/2 cans per day. When my 17 lb boy was alive he ate 4-5 cans a day. A half a can twice a day is not enough! Figure 20 calories per pound.

For your diabetic feed as much as she wants to eat as unregulated diabetic cats can't utilize the nutrients in food properly so they can be starving even though they are eating.

I would give each a can in the morning, another half can each mid day, a can in the evening and another half can to the little one and whole can to Spencer just before bed. It could be that the little one may not need as much (although being diabetic she may) but the bigger one may help her finish up. You may have to give Spencer more since he's a big boy... As I said my big guy sometimes ate up to 5 cans a day. Unless your cats need to lose weight, feed them what they want. Just be sure to not have any food available at least 2 hours prior to the preshot test once you start testing so the numbers are not food influenced.

100 extra test strips
26 or 28 g. lancets
Neosporin gel
Kayro syrup

Am I missing anything?

I'm having a problem scanning the insulin script so I can upload the file to the Canadian pharmacy. Groan! That means another day w/o insulin. I'll have to scan it at work tomorrow.

A treat for yourself. ;). Can they contact your vet directly? Will they accept a photo of the perscription?
 
So glad I went to Wal-Mart Janet! I was able to buy the Lantus pen for the same cost as the Canadian pharmacy which charges shipping too. The pharmacist was so helpful I almost cried. I showed him my list and he picked out everything I needed and told me how to use it. I got home late and was just in time to give Sweet Pea her first shot so I could immediately start her on the schedule I want her on. Didn't have time to test because I have to really read the instructions before trying. She was fine with the shot so guess I didn't hurt her. Next Vet appt. is Thursday to check her blood sugar levels so not sure how I can test when I don't know what it's supposed to be. And yes, I bought myself some chocolate! . Thanks so much for your help!
