? Fancy Feast Food Question

I just read on a diabetic FB group that Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Ocean Whitefish and Tuna in Gravy Pate was low carb after emailing Purina. It is different than the one on the list we use because it just recently came out. In the ingredients, there seems to be very little in the way of carbs but I am not an expert at all. Anyone have experience with this food and their sugar kitties?

No Fancy Feast with Gravy is NOT low Carb especially the Gravy Lovers, just verified with Chewey.com is 15% carb , sorry I tried to type fast due to an emergency and made a terrible Typo

The difference may be in how the carbs have been calculated. The wet matter basis is low carb. The dry matter basis is 14%. You want to look at the dry matter.

I see, my suggestion is to test it first to see how it reacts the BG, for instance, test Minky, feed 2tps, wait 1/2 hour and retest, you will then be sure if Purina's numbers are as they say. Always better to be safe then sorry, FF has a few chunky meals between 0-4% carbs it looks like a gravy, but is not, you can find them in Fish & Shrimp Flake 0%, Trout 4% , Turkey Feast Chunky 2%, Chicken Chunky 4%, Corky and Coco Loves them

There are other low carb brands if your cat is bored of eating Fancy Feast Some of the textured Weruva and Soulistic foods are low carb. Food in aspic/jelly is low carb. Store generic brands are similar to Fancy Feast (WalMart's Special Kitty for example) and may have other varieties your cat may enjoy.

I feed Weruva BFF PLAY (patés to my cats because they are low carb and low phosphorus — so much easier on the kidneys.) I know some cats don’t like them but mine do. Of course, I don’t coddle them by changing their flavors all the time (except when I have sick/old cats who won’t eat …. they know they’ve got you over a barrel then and you will do anything to get them to eat.). We stick with a couple of flavors and that’s it. It all depends on how picky your cats are and on your cat food budget. I save Fancy Feast Savory Salmon Feast for when I have a cat that won’t eat. It usually works.

I personally cannot afford this food, wish I could, but so far since I started to follow this Forum, FF has been my best friend, I have also narrowed down to the chunky flavors and the Tender Beef pate, both Corky and Coco enjoy them, I had in the past wasted so much food and money, today my spending has become more relaxed and easier to manage

She must be carb sensitive. Thatone is 9 percent carbs so it’s still considered low carb, but I guess it is too much for her.

Soulisitc is made by Weruva and more affordable and widely available. The varieties of both brands are nearly identical, just different names for the same exact food and maybe a slight ingredient difference. I know Petco sells it and you can really stock up during a sale.

I was just reading a thread last night where Sienne said we should go by the dry matter basis.
Anyway, if it spikes your cat it spikes your cat. What can you do? I’ve seen beef spike cats in formulas that are supposedly low carb.
