Eyes in health - newbie +2 53 (alphatrak) vet won't reduce

This newbie using an alphatrak got a 53 at +2 today and I suggested a 1/4unit decrease but the vet is saying no. Some experinced eyes would be good before her next shot. Meanwhile her numbers have been bouncing to black a lot so I think the cat is going low a lot, and she isn't doing enough tests to see that. Also the cat previously was DKA.
