Expired Bsaglar question

Abby & Molly here!

I still have the Basaglar pen I bought for Molly in May 2017.
*It has not been used or frozen
*has been in the fridge door or veggie drawer since purchase.
*It is still clear with zero floaties
*The pen says Exp: Jan 2018. The pharmacy sticker says Exp: May 2018.
*My cousins pharmacist says her insulin lasts for 1 year past exp date.

Is mine ok to use on Molly or should I go pick up the new presription I dont actually have $ for?

Thank you for any help you can offer. I am starting her 1st dose tomorrow morning. Im SOOOOO nervous and broke. Hoping what I have is still OK to get her started.

I've heard the same about it being good for a year past expiration, but I've also seen insulin lose efficacy much sooner, so I think I'd err on the side of safety and start with fresh insulin

Otherwise you'd never be sure if the results you get are really valid.

Have you read about Marks Marine Pharmacy? It's where a lot of us are buying our insulin because it's so much cheaper than here in the states!

I did see that at some point in my research but I need start her tomorrow otherwise I will have to wait again cuz I wont be able monitor her. I also dont have the $.... at all. If I have to go get new insulin Im praying my apt mngr doesnt deposit my rent check earlier than normal otherwise Im in even more trouble. =(
How long should I monitor her after her 1st dose? Meaning # of days before I can safely be gone most of the day without worrying?
