Excessive grooming, vomiting

I'm happy to say, Whiskey's sinus/respiratory symptoms have cleared up..I guess it WAS a respiratory infection and the amoxicillin took care of it?

The latest thing tho is..he's been grooming himself all the time. He now has a patch where he overgroomed one of his paws. He's also been vomiting a lot the last few days. I'm planning on bringing him back to the vet after I do a glucose curve early next week (it will have been 2 wks on the insulin by then.)

I think the vomiting is probably related to the grooming...it's either liquid he's vomiting up, or looks like hairballs. I brush him regularly, too.

The last time I checked his BG levels was 2 days ago and it was at 335. At least that's down from the 500+ it had been at the vet..I'm wondering if the excessive grooming is the stress of this whole new routine--new food, the blood testing he hates..the insulin shots

Stress can definitely trigger excessive grooming behaviour in some cats. It would be a good idea to address this when you take him back the the vet. Maybe there are other causes to consider.

Yeah, I'm wondering if he's having some kind of allergic reaction to something and is really itchy.

I bought some of that pheremone cat spray just in case it is stress. He seems really happy most of the time, so I dunno..

Stress can cause over grooming, but so can some types of protein, causing an allergy reaction Have you started giving any different foods lately?
