I apologize for not updating in quite some time. Work and my own health issues plus a non functioning computer have kept me away.
Murphy has been OTJ since late July but has had a myriad of other health issues...ulcers in each eye with many vet trips including a specialist, green diarrhea & other tummy issues and now Excessive Drooling. This started all of a sudden Friday evening and was so bad I took him to the ER. They gave him a shot for nausea but nothing else. We went to the Vet yesterday and they did blood work, x-rays of abdomen and chest as he has had coughing fits and checked his teeth. There are a couple that have redness, but not that bad that they need to come out asap per the vet. X-rays were good, protein and calcium were high which the vet said could be due to their calculations which may not be 100%. I know high calcium can indicate cancer. The shot they gave him stopped the drooling for about 6 hours. Its not as intense as it was Friday night and yesterday, but is still very persisting. He eats, grooms, sleeps and is drinking some water. I don't think he has pooped, but just remembered the vet said his anal gland (one only) had to be "expressed"?. The vet also said they knew of a couple of cases and it cleared up in a few days. It could be neurological or viral. Murphy's nose is now dripping too. He has had such a bad year and I have reconciled myself that this may not be an easy fix and if it is "neuro", could be really bad, but am hopeful. I am taking him back to the vet tomorrow if the drooling does not stop overnight. Anyone else ever had this condition in their loved one or know more about it?
