Evo Dry Food

Question... everyone keeps suggesting the evo brand cat food in the purple bag because it's 8% carbs. Well I went to the pet store tonight to get it and the carb content was 12%. Photo attached. I checked the evo website and it is indeed 8%. Anyone???

Have you tried the young again zero formulas? They are 0 to 1 % carbs from what I've heard on here. Were you looking at the guaranteed analysis or the nutrient analysis? One is 12% and one is 8.41%.

The Young Again has to be ordered online. But if Angel will eat canned or raw foods, those will be a healthier option than dry, no matter how low in carbs the dry food might be. And if Angel likes to free feed, it's fine to leave canned food out to do that. If you look at the stickies at the top of this forum, Dr. Lisa has some links about the impact of dry vs. wet food. Just something to consider if you're in the process of changing food anyway.

You can leave wet food out as a free feed? I think she might just eat and eat and eat and then explode. lol she loves her wet food. Plus, we have to leave dry food out because our other cat refuses to eat wet food. :(

Lol...I've never heard of a cat exploding...but you never know....;):p

Yes, you can definitely leave canned food out. Some people will freeze it first, to slow their cat down from eating it all at once, and also to keep it fresh longer into the day. Other people get a timed feeder that has a space for an ice pack under the food trays. Personally, I like to live on the edge and just leave it out most of the time. Although I do use the frozen food thing for the raw food and for the canned food during the warmer months.

If Angel is used to eating all at once, it might take some training for her to get used to having food available all day. If you decide you want to try it, start on a couple of days when you're going to be around and can distract her from it with cuddles and play. Most cats can adjust, but you will want to be around to help her so she doesn't over eat and puke.
