I am thinking of trying Bert on this as it has a very low carb count.

I have Amazon Prime, so I could get it on there, but has anyone found it for a good price in store?

I am thinking I would like to do the 5.5oz. can or I think they even have one bigger.
I would be feeding this to both cats, so the bigger cans would work.

Also what would be a good price per can?

Thanks for any help

At "Specialty Pets" store, the price on the big can (11-12 oz) ranges from $1.79 US to $2.09 depending on the meat/flavor. Venison and Duck are more expensive than chicken and beef. The store offers a 6% discount for buying by the case.

Hi Kathy

couple of things about EVO, good choice, but....it is known to have a higher fat % than most LC selections...for some comparison see Janet & Binky's (GA) food chart
http://binkyspage.tripod.com/CanFoodNew.html

also, if you are thinking to try something new, I wouldn't advise on starting with a case, Bert may not like it, why not start with a couple of cans and see how he likes it? If u go for acse, ask about refund policy where ever u get it from.

I get the 13 ounce can locally for $1.49.

I went to one specialty store asked their price, then when to another and asked if they would price match and they do.

You could also look at petfooddirect.com and when they have discounts max I've seen is 22%, it helps, right now they have an 18% discount offer. Sign up for their mailing list and you'll get the discounts. or look in suppply closet

I am not 100% sold on the EVO, but want a higher quality food for Bert with a super low carb count.

I often wondered if it was the FF that is keeping him in the 3's.

We were feeding FF-
3-oz cans Ocean Whitefish & Tuna Feast
3-oz cans savory Salmon Feast
3-oz cans Cod, Sole & Shrimp Feast
3-oz cans Tender Beef Feast
3-oz cans Gourmet Chicken Feast
3-oz cans Turkey & Giblets Feast

I am open to suggestions....

check the food chart for carb % to compare (sorry I sound like a broken record) the food chart can be ur best friend when shopping for foods
http://binkyspage.tripod.com/CanFoodOld.html

anything grilled, minced, sliced is listed as a bit higher in carbs

u may also want to limit the amount of fish flavours,
I see 3 there, it is usually suggested no more than 2-3 servings of fish per week - if my cat could eat fish flavours, I'd only feed it once a week...fish is very appealing to cats, kinda like kitty crack (dry food) when I use to feed fish - they wouldn't eat anything else! So they can get picky about anything other than fish, if u have that issue with Bert.

ur other flavours look fine in carb %.

I have the food chart printed, but wanted to get opinions of people who have actually used the food.
The one good thing is Bert does not feel like skin and bones anymore. He has not lost any weight, but has not gained either.

wow, I'm getting ripped off here in NYC. I just bought some 5.5oz cans of this for Fred and paid $2.49 each...at my local pet food store...

We just bought some the other night for Arnold. The big cans were 1.95 (venison was 2.65) and the smaller cans were 1.65. Arnold does NOT like venison it seems. He's not very happy w/ feeding in general lately though. We found a specialty pet food store here so we picked up a few different brands and flavors and a small bag of dry (he loves his dry food and I can't stop him) to try and find one that is going to work for us.

I mix foods for my crew. And I rotate the foods that I mix. I mix Evo 95% (chicken and Turkey) 1.59 with friskies or merrick or fancy feast. Kind of mediates the high fat, and gives them some high quality food. I hate to have them stuck on one food just in case I can't get it (or afford it).

I have a specialty store near me that has good prices on Wellness, Merrick and Evo. Then I use a chain for FF and Friskies. Spread the wealth a little. Since I'm feeding 8, everyone gets a share.

I wanted my cats to like that because it comes in a big can and appeared to be what they needed but none of my cats like it at all. If I were you I would test one can first to make sure they like it before buying a case of it.

I just checked out Heartypet.com, and their prices seem great, but they're out of stock of everything (ETA: in the larger sizes)! No Wellness chicken, no EVO turkey/chicken, etc. I will definitely keep them in mind though.
