A friend was just telling me that she received the new implantable CGM device called the Eversense 365 today. It lasts a full year, and the transmitter sits on top of the implanted device and can be removed (it's charged for 15 mins. daily). This is the first I've heard about this. I wonder if they work for cats.
 
Goodness, technology is incredible, I wonder if there might be a risk of infection of the implant especially in a cat's skin, I would like to see results first, before using it on Corky, is too new, but anyway here's the link and video, compared with Libre the cost is minimal, but you still need sensor on the skin, it is removable. it is interesting

I imagine after a year the old sensor would need to be removed somehow and a new one inserted? A cat would have to be sedated for that, if not full anesthesia.
 
Exactly, that would be a lot of stress for a diabetic cat, especially an already regulated one. I am old school when it comes to technology, I like what I can do with my hands and brain, :):cat::cat:

Maybe. It all depends on the size, etc. It's possible that they could do it under a local.
 
I like the idea that it would eliminate compression lows. Once Esse started seeing more greens, a lot of his <50 values are caused by just laying weird. One of our strategies for checking if the low numbers are real is making him get up and walk around, haha.
 
I do wonder about both the sensor placement and the size of the under-the-skin sensor. What is "small" for a human could be quite large for a cat.
