Good morning,

AMPS - 1.5 is 369 this morning, but I'm observing that the last couple of cycles have been flat, especially this one, I don't see that the insulin had any effect or not. I only got a +4 reading but fell asleep so I couldn't get a +6, but usually by +4 I would have seen a drop of more than the 9 points I observed. He's been eating more or less constantly so I attribute some of this to that, I observed him while watching TV, he would nibble, rest, eat some more, rest, and so on and on, this morning his dish was empty, although its also possible that Molly could have eaten from it as well. He is a tad finicky, sometimes not wanting to eat unless I mix in some baby food, but otherwise seems to be OK. I still have been unable to get a urine specimen for ketones so I'm at a loss, but he does seem quite fine clinically, just those flat cycles. Also on Saturday I fed 1 can of the wet MD diet which he finished yesterday morning, it's been his usual chicken diet since then plus the baby food. I don't see that the baby food has any sugar in it so I don't know what else could be explaining this. Should I up the dose? He is currently at 1.0 units.

Maybe he’s eating more to make up for lost time HB. It was a few days he wasn’t eating last week right?
You know I am no dosing person, but if he were my kitty, I think I’d be good with giving a nudge more insulin if I’d be around to test here and there.

Yeah, I'm not all THAT worried (just my usual neurotic baseline worrying). I decided against going up on the dose because I'll be at work all morning so I wont be able to monitor as closely as I could. I also wonder if the Pepcid or the mirtazapine could be affecting his glucose readings? (in particular, the mirtazapine, because I know in humans it can cause weight gain, but then again, that happens after prolonged use, not just a couple of doses. Anyway, it could be just a bad case of Same Cat, Different Day

Yeah, my vote is with SCDD

And I hear ya on the neurotic baseline worrying. I am an expert at that!!!

Good day and good numbers to you and Euk. Hope he keeps eating well for you and feels better every day.

Maybe he'll surprise you with some good numbers today... in spite of hanging at the buffet all day w/ Grayson!

Hmmm, +3 reading is 362, barely down a notch. Could my insulin gotten bad all of a sudden? I did leave it out accidentally one day but I think it was no more than 3 hours, I've seen in the boards that others have left it out longer. Anyway, I'll be back around +6 or +7 to check. Today I have not given any baby food or M/D, just his regular Fancy Feast Chicken Classic. I'm thinking he was doing better on the Chicken/Beef Classic, but have 2 cases to go through and I don't want to change too many variable at time.

The insulin should still be good. I am one of the ones who has left it out for more then 3 hrs.

Let his body settle down from last week. It's only been 3 days he has been eating. Friday was the baby food if I remember correctly. I would give it a couple more days. Then see how his numbers are. Then do the dose increase. You are right you don't want to change to much at once....food & insulin.

You are doing a amazing job! You & Euk have come so far in the last few days...I was worried towards the end of last week....I am so happy for you! ;-)

Well, I think we are getting better here. Just got home for lunch at almost +7 and the glucose is down to 280. It's good to see some yellow after all these pinks the last few days. The food dish was empty and he's been very hungry lately, so maybe I'll back off the mirtazapine, his next dose is suppossed to be tomorrow (he had one on Wednesday and one on Saturday) so I think this is making a difference. I'm not even putting baby food in the Fancy Feast any more! An so the roller coaster goes... it's making me dizzy

Glad hes coming down some for you.
The flatness could be just from not eating and now hes eating good and maybe grazing more, so there is more effect from food in his system still when you test.
And if you gave him some of the MD, its higher carb than FF. I don't think it would be the baby food; I don't think it has much filler in it, I think its mostly just pureed protein.
Or as you said SCDD, we all know about that!
Glad hes still eating good for you and doing better.
