Spring has spring and it found me spoon feeding Euk around 1:30 AM. He had a very poor appetite yesterday, refusing to eat, thumbing up his nose when I tried to offer food with a spoon (he never refuses food like this) so I was alarmed, but finally last night he ate a little, then at 1:30 he had some more and he seems fine at the moment. Curiously, his +11 glucose is 234 and although technically I could shoot at least a token dose, his appetite isn't still back to normal and I won't be here most of the morning to monitor so I think it's better to skip the shot. I made a tentative appointment for the vet early this afternoon but will cancel if he is doing better by then. If he keeps this roller coaster up, I'm the one that will need a medical appointment...with a shrink
Have a good day, everyone!

Happy Spring HB!
I am sorry that Eukanubo is not up to par...
hopefully with spring here and all the birdies he will get back to himself
and I do understand about the shrink part
Hang in there

I think we all get the shrink part! :?
Hope Euk feels better very soon. I think you did the right thing by contacting the vet just in case it is something.
Fingers and pink kitty toes crossed for you guys here.

Ain't that the truth! After almost a year treating Alex, I'm finally beginning to not be so uptight. For months, my entire mood of the day was influenced by his AMPS.
It does get better.

Well, it's around his usual +6 time and he is eating fine, and his glucose is 393 which actually is better than I thought it would be from skipping the shot, so I canceled the appointment. My roommate forgot to put away Molly's high carb food so it's possible he ate some of it, even then I was expecting to get 400s or worse. Maybe Mr. P is stopping by for spring break!

Well, so much for Mr. P's spring break visit! He is currently at 555 at what would be around his usual +11 so of course he needs to dose, problem is that he is not eating that great, but I think he'll be OK, so in about 1 hour or so I'll shoot for a 0.8 and see how he does.

Just to be safe you should check his ketones with the reduced appetite and the 555 BG.
If he got into dry kibble that could explain the 555 BG.
If I got a really high number that seems out of the ordinary I always re-check. Sometimes the amount of blood on the strip or a contaminated or bad strip can give you a BG thats wonky.
Hope Eukanubo feels better and eats well for you tonight.

I think his problem is his stomach. He threw up some a little while ago, then ate with apparent good appetite. He has
also used the litter box but I couldn't get a urine specimen. I just checked a +4 reading and it's down to 446,I attribute the high numbers to also skipping his insulin this morning. I'm also thinking that there could be an issue with his food, he just doesn't seem to like it it's from a new batch. So there are all kinds of things that are influencing him that I'm just taking it one day At a time.
