Good afternoon,
I haven't had the time to post, it's been an insanely busy day, but Euk seems to be fine. Rushed home at +6 to get a most pleasing reading at 190. I'm here at home now for a few minutes +9 and initially I got 345, but I didn't believe it, so I rechecked and it was 290. Does getting a big, fat drop sample make the reading lower than it is? I kind of remember the +6 sample was also a large drop, but I don't know if it would explain a 50 point difference. Is that variance that normal or what could I be doing wrong?
Thanks!

I've noticed my wonkiest numbers when I've double dipped. Not enough blood initially, the the second poke right before meter errors out. Likewise, I've questioned a couple of the readings when the drop was larger (which only RARELY happens w/ my little turnip!), so I'll catch myself retesting. Most of the time, there's a difference in the number - around your 55 points. I think a consistent size drop of blood would be helpful for consistent readings.

After using Kims (Contour?) and Libby's (ReliOn ___) meters recently, both of theirs use less than my Relion Optima (dark blue) meter.

No hard and true evidence, but I've read and noticed a couple times myself that the larger drops normally give you a higher reading. Two reasons: Many times the large drops are due to a direct hit on the vein instead of the caps, and the meters are made to read capillary blood. And, sometimes when the drop is large, the strips get flooded instead of the blood "sipping" up the strip, it just gets overloaded by the large drop.
