Hi everyone,
Does anyone here have experience with Erythropoiesis Stimulating Agents to treat anemia? Moritz's Hematrocrit was recently measured at 16.4% which is really scaring me (blood work attached). He still has energy (is jumping up to my bed and on the table), but I'm still scared he's near a critical point. I've been doing lots of reading on Tanya's CRF site about anemia and ESA's, but I was wondering if anyone here has used them? Moritz has HCM, so I'm not sure if that's a risk. My current vet doesn't have experience with them herself but has been speaking to some others who do. She and I spoke yesterday. I left a message for a cardiologist to speak to him about administering fluids to a cat with HCM and hope to speak to him today/tomorrow. Maybe he'll know about possible risks to the heart associated with ESA's. I'm also wondering if testing for reticulocytes might be a good idea. Moritz had worms back in June and got one dose of Profender, but I guess it's possible that didn't take care of it. Maybe a parasite is contributing to the anemia? And I guess that would be considered regenerative?
Ugh, sorry, I'm rambling a bit because I'm nervous. Thanks to everyone for your help!
