Hello everyone :smile: just wanted to check in and say hi. Errol is still doing very well and is eating 100% raw still, and keeping lovely stable BG #'s.

Just wanted to report on how Errol is doing, it's been a while. He's doing very well, been on 100% raw diet for a good few months and seems to be doing great on it.
Just before he was DX with FD on 26.11.13 he was pulling tufts of hair and shedding quite a bit. That seemed to resolve itself but then about 6 weeks ago, coinciding with Spring here, I noticed he's started shedding like mad, pulling tufts again and overgrooming. He's had a couple of hairball issues in the past 10 days, and regurgitates his food if he eats too quickly. [Trying to resolve the hairball issues with Slippery Elm Bark / Psyllium Husk syrup as I can't get egg yolk Lecithin here.
Also brush him thoroughly every 3rd day or so to remove loose hair]
I was just wondering if anyone else had had similar issues with overgrooming, shedding and hairballs and how do you treat / prevent it in your FD?

I'm glad Errol is doing well overall. You might want to put hairball ? in the subject line to get more eyes on your question. I'm not sure what works for a diabetic cat and doesn't raise BG. I usually just brush a lot.

If this is happening in the Spring, have you or your vet considered whether this is an allergy? My vet had recommended ceterizine when Gabby was licking her belly excessively. Some cats also do well with adding an Omega-3/fish oil to their cat's diet since it has an anti-inflammatory effect. Many of the folks here use Nordic Naturals. However, some cats are allergic to fish.

good idea Carla :) Brushing definitely helps a lot.

thanks for the suggestions. i think it's a flea or mite allergy as he might have been exposed to one or the other from the dog which goes outside, and if not that i'm thinking either stress (but what i don't know?!) or discomfort from something (also what i don't know, he seems fine in every other way). I'm feeding Dr Pierson / Anne Jablonksy's raw food recipe so that has Salmon Oil in it.
Pretty sure it's not a diet related allergy.
