Anyone have an experience with this?

My Linus was just diagnosed. What I keep reading, though, is the lesions are raised.....and his are mostly flat. He responded well to the steroids and cream that the doctor gave, but now it started up again about an inch away from the original site. He said it's probably from allergies.

Maybe it's from all the different foods I've been having them try?? Sigh. Back to Friskies with gravy for him. Vet said if it keeps coming back and coming back, I should consider having him allergy tested at a dermatologist. Buuut that runs like $700. Yikes.

If it might be food allergy, could you try one of the limited ingredient foods? Natural Balance makes a couple of limited ingredient canned foods: Duck and Green Pea, Venison and Green Pea. If the problem gets better with them, you may be able to avoid the costly allergy testing.

He's sooo picky. He barely touches any of the natural, organic or more healthy foods I've bought for him. But he'll gobble up Friskies with gravy. He didn't have any of these skin problems before when he was eating that stuff...so maybe I have to switch back. He even lost a lb from not eating the healthy stuff. Sigh, my poor boy.

Well, if he won't eat the good stuff, there doesn't seem to be any reason to allergy test him. I mean, if it winds up he's allergic to chicken but that's all he'll eat, what do gain by testing?

ummm. a bigger credit card bill? ;-)

I'm just gonna put him back on the same food he was on a month ago, before all this diabetes stuff turned my world upside down.. and see what happens.
