I think there is a possibility that this may be what Gobbles has. He's had the mouth form (which was removed and came back a few years later then treated with a steroid and went away), has flea allergies and now has chronic diarrhea. There is 3 forms of this disease; one of which is the lip/tongue and another is of the intestinal tract. Does anyone have any experience with this disease?

Is there a test for it?
If there is, I think I'd want to test for it to at least eliminate it as a possibility.
I don't believe there is a specific test, but since it can be an allergen, allergy tests...not sure...will ask vet tomorrow!

My Boo had the rodent ulcers and eosinophilic plaques. The rodent ulcer was removed and the pathology came back EGC. I just wrote a post and lost it. There is no specific test. His bloodwork always showed elevated eosinophils. Boo had a really bad case. His plaques were horrible. Going to a vet dermatologist was one of the best things I ever did.

I personally do not have experience with this but I did have a friend whose cat had it. Diet was super important to controlling it. It was almost like an allergen type thing .

When Gobbles had the granuloma back in 2011, his Eosinophils was high (also, it was biopsied and benign) and then when it returned in 9/12, it was also high. I am waiting to see what that test level was from his labs on 4/3/13.... When you say "horrible", did Boo have diarrhea?

Boo had bad skin lesions. No diarrhea. When he did have a bout of diarrhea ihe had campy. He never went outside. Vet thought he was maybe a carrier

A Web search found the following.....
Thank you for all the links; Gobbles had this mouth form of this disease (though did not procure it from rodents as he has always been an indoor cat). There doesn't seem to be much information out there on the intestinal tract form of this disease.

With the diarrhea, you may wantto explore inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) too.

I've been doing a lot of that these past few days. I even joined a Yahoo IBD group. The only real symptoms he has are: a mustard-brown color of runny BM--now better though, more formed, and a little less of an appetite.... He's been to the vet and ER in the past month and has had a myraid of tests...I am waiting on his TLI

Campy -> campylobacter, a nasty smelling bacterial infection of the GI tract.
