Hello! Kirby's Prozinc was increased to 2.5 2x a day on Tuesday. On Wednesday morning he threw up several times, so I went back to 2 units Wednesday night and have slowly been increasing up to 2.5. Tonight at 730 pm I gave him his 2.5 units and he immediately threw up and has at least six more times. I tested him and he was at 147 at +5. I'm just really nervous because he won't stop vomiting and he's even started yowling before vomiting the last several times. I'm still so new at this and we've had such a hard time trying to regulate him that I'm worried this is something serious. Does anyone have any advice? Kirby and I both appreciate any information.

How many times has he vomited? Is he still vomiting now? Is he otherwise normal, peeing and pooping, etc? I would call the vet if he continues to vomit and isn't keeping food down, or he could be at risk for fatty liver syndrome. Fatty liver syndrome (feline hepatic lipidosis) is a very serious condition brought on by not eating, or by a drastic reduction of calories.

Good morning, Lucy. Thank you for your help. He vomited 6-7 times last night with the last one around 130 am. I would say about three of them are about the size of a .50 cent piece, if that. Others though seemed like it should have been everything he had in his system. He was okay through the night, but woke me up at 653 by getting sick in the bedroom. I tested him and he was at 347, so I gave him his regularly scheduled breakfast and 2 units of Prozinc. I should know in the next hour if he is able to keep it down.

Fingers and paws crossed for him keeping his food on board this time! If he is still throwing up, keep an eye on his BG to make sure it doesn't get too low. Have you seen him in the litter box? Is he straining to have a bowel movement?

Several weeks ago Squallie went through a bout of vomiting, in his case it was due to a UTI.

If Kirby keeps vomiting or is showing signs of straining in his LB I would definitely call the vet and at least see if he/she thinks Kirby should come in for evaluation.

Please keep us posted! :):):)

Hi Lucy. Other than the time first thing this morning he has kept his food down. He has been drinking a lot of water again and has been using his lb regularly, no straining that I have noticed. I'm going to get him in on Monday to see his vet. Both times that we've had bouts with vomiting this week we're both after 2.5 units and I'm wondering if that's what's causing it. We will see Monday. Thank you for all of your help and support!:bighug:
