Hello All,
Emerald has multiple diagnosis. She started with kidney issues. We have kept her kidneys under control with special food. She couldn't have Subq fluids because that caused her to go into heart failure. We didn't know that she also has a genetic heart defect. After she went into heart failure, she had Diabetes for about 3 months but it went away. That was a year ago. She hasn't needed insulin since then. However, she recently had inflamed bowel disease. She couldn't eat without throwing up. She was put on steroids. The steroids affected her heart and she had a second mild heart failure episode. Her blood glucose levels have gone up high again and she has had to go back on insulin. The vet keeps tweaking those insulin levels a little at a time since the blood glucose is still too high. My poor kitty has been through a lot. Of course, we have been through a lot with her. Emotionally, its really tough. She is still a friendly sweetheart and smiles through it all.
