She's going to test him again at +2.5 and see if he's still surfing. If so, I suggested she give him another tsp. and retest again at +3.5. Hopefully by then we'll know we warded off that major drop he threw at +1 tonight.

Correct numbers and times...testing now at +2.5 ( no snack given at +2)....
 
Seems to go in cycles. Is it a full moon? Mine had me on a meat hook at shot time too. I was sure she was going to give me another one of those head scratchers....to shoot or not to shoot and if shoot, how much. Thankfully she was just being a drama queen about wanting her dinner and not because she had done a cliff dive at the end of her cycle as she does every so often.

Yep! Technically he's still surfing but I'd steer him a bit just in case he's starting to sink a bit. Get that surfboard rolling Elmo! You can do this!

Not tonight but when you all have a bit of time,I would love to hear about this concept of surfing, how u know when to snack and not snack....it is truly an art form
 
Beth, surfing is technically when kitty stays on an even keel and holds it for a decent amount of time without any intervention however, with Vetsulin, a tiny bit of steering is often needed in the early hours of the cycle so I may be guilty of slightly misusing the term in other folks minds but to me if you can keep him in the same good range for a while without any big drops after that initial big drop with Vetsulin, it qualifies as surfing.

Taco Bell must have been very closeby cause Elmo ain't giving you much time off right now! Beth, I'm scratching my head here. I don't want to mutilate Elmo's ears with over testing so I think I'd give him another tsp now and then test at +4 so we give him a break. Maybe Kris has another idea? Thoughts?

Yes they are both good cities but for beauty, I'd take Ottawa any day. Toronto has just become one humungous big crowded metropolis. Maybe I've just been here too long and don't see the "beauty" anymore. Sure there are some great sites to see but those of us who live in the burbs usually avoid them because we hate the crowds and driving downtown in the traffic. I liked Ottawa when I was there because they seemed to roll up the sidewalks at night downtown! That was quite awhile ago though so maybe it's grown out of that stage!
 
Ottawa is pretty quiet still by large city standards. I love that I can drive 20+ minutes in most directions and I'm in farm land. And I love that we have a research farm right in the middle of the city. There's a lot of green space and water with the Ottawa River, Rideau River and the canal. I really like living here - big enough (about 1.5 million counting the Quebec side of the National Capital Region) but not overwhelming. :)
 
Well they really both very beautiful...we have always talked of traveling there but closest we ever have gotten is watching Anne of Green Gables , Prince Edward Island....love that series !!! Oh, and btw, Elmo is 134 at +4..... ?????

Looks like the snack was a good idea. He's surfing but not sure if he's at nadir or not. I vote no food and retest at +4.5 to see if he really is surfing but that's really up to you Beth. He's probably at nadir now but sometimes it shifts a bit. The other option would be to give him some MC or even HC food to more or less abort the cycle if you want to call it a night. I still have some things to do here so I'll be up awhile yet.
 
I vote retest at+4.5 ...just let me know when u r, as my kids use to say, "ready for the beddy "... I'm watching an NBA game so I'm entertained :)
 
I have to take Menace to the vet tomorrow for her physical so I need to print out her SS and get her travel case ready as well as check her BG, the communal water bowls etc. Oh and THEN I suppose I could go get my PJs on and do my bedtime prep too. :p
 
I'd give him his snack. He seems to be surfing pretty well now. I think you could even give him a couple. He surfed very well tonight!

With that I'll go resume my hunt for my old guy. He's disappeared and I have no idea where he is hiding. Kinda concerning me but it's not the first time he's done this and it probably won't be the last. I'm used to losing Menace because she 's hard to see but my old guy is a little easier to spot. He's probably under my nose and I'm just missing him! Sweet dreams! :bighug::bighug::bighug:
