Looks like the increase hasn't kicked in yet. He was up a lot last night and hungry. He might have eaten a little less than 2 hours before so it "might" be a little artificially high. Still urinating more than normal.

He is hiding under the bed I think to avoid the ear pricks. It's his MO.

Poor Max has been throwing up fur a couple of times late this afternoon and tonight. The strange thing is he actually purred before and after I pricked his ear. Usually purring is a good thing but this time I'm not so sure. I've read they purr when they don't feel well too.

Max ate okay after the hairballs. I just did a +3 1/2 and he is 130. Should I be concerned??? Do I need to test again tonight?

That's a pretty good drop. Is he eating and keeping it down now? Yes...with a drop like this, I'd be sure you feed him some LC and make sure he is coming up before you go to bed. We usually like to see two rising numbers not influenced by food.

So Marje, if he eats more fancy feast classics, that would be considered LC and wouldn't influence the numbers, right? He has kept 99% of his food down. When he threw up the hair there was just a bite of the treat the first time and a bite of food the second time and it was mostly bile with the fur. He is eating just fine. The drop really shocked me. Thanks.

The Ff classics are LC and most around 4-5%. Whether they will affect his BG or not depends on hoe carb sensitive he is. I know of one kitty who gets a bump in her a gag from freeze dried chicken.

I'm glad he is holding his food down.

The question is whether you can stay up to watch Max tonight. If yes, then a tsp or two of low carb food and test again in an hour. If not, then you might want to leave out some MC or HC for him to snack on if he goes lower.

Thanks. I can stay up. I just checked and he is eating some LC food right now that I put out 1 1/2 hours ago. He ate a little then as well.

That's great . These are nice numbers for Max. We like to see two rising numbers, without influence of food before calling it a night. Paws crossed he surfs here or starts coming up a little. If he goes below 70, I'd test in 1/2 hour intervals. If he goes below 50, that's when you can break out the higher carb food.

Okay. I hope he doesn't get down any lower but I know he might Nadir at 6 or 7 hours.

Well he's now 86 at +6. So I test again in an hour. If he is around the same, do I test again in another hour or bring out the higher carb food? Or would it be safe to sleep?

Well his + 7 1/2 is 103 so he is slowly rising. I think I can go to sleep??

I think it's safe to go to sleep if his +7.5 is rising. Once you can get his doses, food schedule, and food amounts situated, and consistent, his #s will be better over time. Just takes a lot of trial and error, and figuring out. You're doing a good job. :-D
